Thanks everyone. I have a better understanding now. I'm still tossing around which configuration I'd like best.
What is the purpose of the zipper hoods? Are they mainly for looks or is it help with hammock integrity? Is it possible to order a Sparrow without them to save weight?
I'm just trying to see what the options are.

Their purpose is to cover the gaps at the very ends of the zippers to keep the creepy crawlers and bloodsuckers out! You could go with net zipper hoods like I did with my recent order to save a bit of weight. I’m pretty sure this is what the Chameleon uses. I don’t think there would be any negative effects unless you don’t like the look. I think it will make reattaching the net/cover easier because you’ll be able to see what you’re working with under the hood too.

Thanks again everyone. I ended up ordering the Darien in a right lay and 1.6 HyperD. I almost went with the 1.2 Robic, just for the weight. But, I read a LOT of good things about the HyperD. Can't wait to try it out in about a month or so.

Thanks Weasel88. We'll do our best. For those who've been following this thread, here's a peek at this particular hammock configuration. https://www.dreamhammock.com/current...tml?order=6773

How length is the ridge line in Darien 10'?

    I have 4 more questions:

How to replace the continuous loops? Does it have some youtube video?

What is the difference between 1.6 HyperD x 1.7 MTN? First one is 40D (like my WBBB) and the second one is 70D (like my HH Expedition)? I would appreciate an elaborated answer.

Are the tie out hooks a pair on each side?

#3 coil zipper is bigger than #5 coil? Which is best?

    Thank you

Although I've not used either, I've read multiple accounts that say the 1.6 is softer and stretchier and most find it more comfortable. The 1.7 is sturdier and firmer, and some prefer a more firm hammock. 1.7 holds more weight and is more tear resistant. Assuming your under 280lbs, if you prefer stretch, I would go 1.6. If you prefer firmness, 1.7.

I should add that according to RipstopByTheRoll, who I believe makes the 1.7 DH uses, 1.7 is NOT 70D. It is a 40D material just like the 1.6, EXCEPT with a much thicker, stronger 120D yarn used for the ripstop grid, giving it 40D/120D hybrid characteristics SIMILAR to a straight 70D.

The answer given here by SupraLance is a very good description of these 2 fabrics.

Yes, if you add Tie-out hooks, you would get a pair of hooks on each side of the hammock.

The #3 coil zipper is a smaller zipper having teeth that are 3mm wide. This is the default zipper for the Darien.
The larger #5 coil zipper has teeth that are 5mm wide. It's a bit more robust and a better choice for kids or folks who are rougher on their gear.

    I hope this helps.
    Thanks

Is there much of a weight difference between the sparrow and Darien if using the same hammock material?

Yes, there is a decent difference in weight between the two models. The Sparrow has a fully-removable net, which means it needs twice the amount of zipper. The Sparrow also has zipper hoods at each end of the hammock- which also add a little weight. If I had to guess, I'd say the weight difference is probably around 5-6oz.
