    Mitten Hook Line Locks

Howdy everyone. I’m on a quest and so far I can’t find these. Any of y’all know if anyone makes a line lock with a mitten hook on the end? I’m currently using Dutch’s line lock hooks and they work great, but I’ve found that when using them for my tarp doors they can sometimes detach from the line I have them hooked to if not under tension. So I’m basically looking for the same line lock hooks but with gated mitten hooks or something similar.

    Thanks for any help.

I don't know about any line-lock/mitten hooks, but would it be feasible to use plastic orings so that the line-lock hooks you have snap onto them? Find some the same thickness as the d-rings on a Chameleon.

    Edit: Just measured, they're 1/8".

I’m not sure what you mean, snap o-ring into the hook then use the o-ring to connect to the line, or use the o-ring as a make shift gate?

I have these as well and use them for my ridgeline. They work great, but when used for tie-outs, the line can still pop out of the hook when it’s not under tension. This is why I’m looking for a gated hook with a line lock.

    Thanks for the suggestion though.

...lineloc_wsr_l.jpg...Or you could use a -Line Lock Side Release- type buckle.

The Dutch hooks work great when using standard d rings. They have a very noticeable click into place. If you’re hooking them to beastie d’s then they won’t snap as well.

Yep, they definitely stay in place, but it doesn’t have a way to adjust and keep tension like a line lock and you’re limited to the size cordage you can hook into.

Is is possible to heat them up so that the plastic is soft, then bend the hook in a little?

Attach the o-ring/d-ring to the door by whatever method you choose, such as tying with a short loop of non slippery cord, larkshead etc. Of course if you're DIYing a new tarp, just include it in the grosgrain loops before sewing. Your existing line-lock hooks/cord can be used to snap onto the o-ring. Can be used to stake out, and to hold the doors open over the top.

Fairly certain these o-rings from diygearsupply are too small/thin.

    Questoutfitters o-rings - But they're description isn't very descriptive.

Dutch's 1/2" d-rings work great, but they'll look odd if tying on.

Here's some at USA Lanyards the right thickness, but I have no idea of their durability.

Your hooks will snap on to 1/2" beastie dees as well.
