Thanks for providing the percentage of change in the load on the straps/whoopie slings.

What about the ridgeline? Would Zing-It, etc be sufficient or would I be better off with Amsteel? I would like to go as lightweight as possible but I don't want to sacrifice the integrity of my suspension.

Zing-it/Lash-it are fine as long as the load and suspension angle are not too extreme. Something in between would be Dynaglide which is a popular, lighter-weight yet very strong material. There are people who use 2mm Dynaglide as PRIMARY suspension!

Dang I haven't posted in a LONG time...but I have to chime in here. 2mm Dynaglide is precisely what I have been hanging from for the last 10 years or so, it is MOST definitely good enough for the ridgeline. If I thought my hands would handle Slingit, I'd hang on that too...though I'd always be cautious...

I find it fascinating that I can go away for a year or two and come back to the same questions being asked again and again from slightly different angles! That makes me happy to know that there are still so many folks finally figuring out that above ground is the only way to camp! It is also one of the reasons I keep coming back, everyone is just so dang inquisitive and thereby inventive.

I hung on Dynaglide for two seasons. First with Loop Aliens and then with a set of UL UCRs. I still carry the UCRs in case I need some extra length..

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
