Thanks everyone! We are willing to travel. We have plenty of gear. My stepdad passed and we have all his rafting gear. He went on all those big rafting trips out west. Tons of dry bags. Some too big really. I’m already planning for the Rainbow River trip. Can’t wait. My sister lives in NC. We are planning on doing the New this year. Pictures will be coming. Who knows, maybe I’ll start a YouTube channel. Thanks again for all the ideas and advice. Good luck John! You’ll love it. We paddle a lot. Just looking for some longer trips for some hanging too.

A friend of mine did this trip with his family and loved it. https://www.southernpaddling.com/

They are planning a big trip in April with some others but not sure of much but it starts near Columbia and ends in Charleston, SC

The new river in NC is good as long as the water level is up but not sure of any guides or outfitters.

Buffalo National River in Arkansas is a delight. A friend and I canoed most of the lower sections and kayaked the upper sections a few years back. I'll never forget standing on a gravel bar and watching 4 canoes of Amish kids come by- straw hats, bonnets, suspenders, and grinning ear-to-ear. I'd steer clear of Spring River in Ark. Basically a beerfest during summer weekends.

You had me at beerfest. Now I have to plan a trip up there. As to the op, there are plenty of great trip ideas throughout the southeast. Feel free to look locally for any kayak and canoe groups in your area through social media, and check with your states wildlife and fisheries commission. Also, I have had some great times in national forests just pulling up to random lakes, paddling about, and doing some dispersed camping. Once you get out there you will likely find more places to go than you have time for. Don't forget to talk to other paddlers you meet on the water, they are usually very friendly and are happy to point you to other local spots off the beaten path. May your paddles be ever wet, and your gear as dry as tinder.
