VIDEO: Winter trip to Lost Creek

On this trip we were supposed to go in for 2 nights, but one of our group had a hard time staying warm, so it turned into an overnight trip.

I recently got a pulk sled and this was it's first trip out. I dug through some old gear I had and managed to put together a harness for it. I've watched enough videos of sleds being used that I had a decent idea of what to do. I'm used to everything fitting in to my pack so I wasn't sure what else to throw in the sled, so I only had a few extra items in there that I wouldn't normally bring with me.

I was really amazed how well the sled tracked behind me and how easy it was to pull. On this trip we were just going up a logging road, so the walking was pretty easy anyway. Even when we got off of the road and into the woods, the sled just traveled right behind me and I hardly even felt it pulling most of the time.

I'm looking forward to getting out there with it again before the snow melts.

That looks like a beautiful area to try out your new pulk sled. Hopefully you will be able to get it out again before the snow melts. Nothing beats winter camping on a nice sunny winter day with fresh snow on the trees.

Thanks for taking the time to share your video.

Nice video, nice scenery, and nice editing! Are you picking the strings or is someone else, I wonder.

So True! I am looking forward to getting out again. Another storm just hit us too, so looks like we will have some snow to play for a little while longer.

Beautiful area. With your pulk. Try letting you poles cross x fashion behind you. You might find a difference in handling.

There is nothing like being in the mountains, in winter, when the sun is out!

Yep, you're right. I got rushed when we were getting ready to start walking and I had them twisted, so I had one of my hiking partners untwist them for me, but he thought that I meant without a single X... and I didn't check before I started walking again. On the return trip I had the proper X on the poles. This trip was easy enough, and I think that pulk was light enough that I didn't really notice a difference. It handled great both ways, but yeah it should have a X in the poles.
