    Question about Boone Hammock

I am interested in getting a Boone Zip. This will be the first hammock IÂ’d be getting. I like the idea of the built under quilt.

I go camping with my son in Boy Scouts and live in Texas. Can the Boone hammock be used for all 4 seasons. I see the under quilt has vents but can that be used when the temperature is like low 80s. I am open to other hammocks/options too.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Hi Michael, Welcome to the forum. I have never heard of a boone zip got a link?

Before buying I'd do a bit of reading around here. We pretty much cover all the state of the art hammocks and accessory gear here.

I'd start a thread with as much info as you can provide. Stuff like your height weight type of weather. Are you on a budget that will also help.

    Good luck

I have no experience with Sheltowee Trace but I've only ever heard positive things about them.

I have a Boone 20 and love it. It is a netless but same idea. Anyhow I would use it in 50 degree weather but anything over that and I think it would bee too hot. At 80, you don't need insulation imo.

Thank you Dutch and Shug. So it would appear that the hammock would only be good for cold camp outs based on what Dutch is saying.

Keep in mind he's got the 20. I think almost anything with a quilt would be too hot at 80 degrees, venting or no, but I'd see what the company says.

Your budget is definitely adequate for a nice system, but keep in mind you'll need to have a suspension, bugnet, tarp, stakes, and a sleeping bag or top quilt by the time you're done.

What are the hottest and coldest nights you'd be camping in the thing? We can give you better advice if we know that.
