I understand what you're doing in these above pots. Just not why? The point of using a beckett is to have a single strap nothing else. simple. easy. works.
My straps are 15 feet. overkill? YUP. I love it. Any two trees will work in my woods, And the straps stay with my pack. I can use any one of my 3 hammocks using this hitch.

Go with what works for you! I stated in my previous posts why I like using the soft shackle larksheaded to the webbing. I use whoopie slings. This replaces the Marlin spike and toggle. I find it more secure than the MSH. It's also easier to adjust the whoopie sling- the adjustable end glides more smoothly through the shackle. I can keep the entire suspension connected to my hammock, or take everything apart simply by opening the soft shackle and releasing my Dutch Biners (which is nice if my suspension gets wet).Originally Posted by XJ35S

I've only been at this a few months and have field-tested about 7 or 8 different suspension setups. A couple of times I though I had the perfect one only to discover it wasn't quite my cuppa joe. I'm pretty sure this time, but who knows?

I wasn't trying to be argumentative. I come off that way often. I'm sorry.
I leave my straps connected if I'm going to stay out with the same hammock. I use a carabiner at the tree so I can just pack the biner, straps, and Hammock in the stuff sack on the hammock. I pinch the strap close to the CL and tie the beckett under it, then pull it tight towards the pinched part. Maybe 1/2" slippage at most. So adjustments are pretty easy.
For me it's two whoopies, two CL, and Two straps VS 2 straps, 2 biners (optional).
I did this video showing the two ways I've seen the beckett tied. Doing it this way you really don't get much slippage and it's super easy to make the adjustments if needed. I have no experience with whoopies and I'm a newbie here. It seems like they are losing popularity overall. I'm just trying to point out the simplicity of the Beckett as per the topic of the thread. 1 hammock, 2 straps, biner optional.
It's all good! I didn't mean to sound argumentative either. The Becket Hitch is definitely the most utilitarian solution for hanging a hammock. I think each suspension option has its pros/cons. Whoopies are, generally speaking, a little lighter in weight than having 12-15ft of webbing. However, there can be issues with narrowly-spaced trees. The Becket Hitch- albeit simple, does require the untying/retying of knots for every adjustment, and some folks would rather not have to fuss with it.
Honestly, cinch buckles are probably the simplest of the bunch to operate, and I still enjoy using them too. But for the time being, I've moved them to my son's hammock to lighten his load from what he had been using.
In the video what you are calling a Becket hitch on top of the CL isn't a Becket. It is an overhand bight or slippery overhand.
