VIDEO of my rainy wet weekend trip

I knew what i was getting into when i decided to hike in the rain. The WBRR and superfly combo worked great and kept me dry and i slept like a baby.
There was something special about being in the woods after a long week of rain and during the rain. The smell...it's a particular smell.
edit: This was last Friday, 2/16/18 through 2/17/18.

I enjoy working for my heat...it seems to make my food taste better. -Richard Proenneke

Enjoy your videos. I have been wanting to get out the last 2 weekends. May have to take some days off during the week if the weather is good.

I've got to take the time to get up to these trails. I finally got out yesterday and the trail was as muddy and swampy as I've ever hiked but considering we've had over 9" of rain the last 3 weeks I kinda expected that. It was still enjoyable. This up coming weekend looks like a winner so I'm going to get out come heck or high water. Thanks for sharing and taking us along. BTW, that's a very nice hat. Are there water proof? One other question that you didn't answer or I missed it. Why didn't you get one of the shirts?

The extended forecast has lots of rain!...but sometimes you just have to get out there, rain or shine!

Hats are not waterproof. Mostly alpaca hair! Breathes most well.
When i was editing it struck me that i forgot to finish the shirt story. Sadly, the shirts wouldn't fit me. The Inca descendants are tiny people and I have wide shoulders. The largest one they had was still too tight on me.
Awesome that you're getting out this weekend. Shoot some video for us to see. If you decide on the CT give me holla and I can give you the lo-down...but this Possum Creek trail is probably the easiest but you know your heart will still get a workout.

edit: Actually, i received a very good training on different animal furs and the insulation qualities and such... the Alpaca, Llama, Vicuña, and Guanacos. The natives use the fur to make some outstanding clothing that keeps them alive high in the Andes in very cold and wet climates. But, dude, i would look like an idiot in all that colorful stuff on the trail!
Here's a snapshot of one of the island guys with one of those shirts on. He is carrying supplies up the island...he just walked up 1000' in elevation already at 12,000 ft. We did too, but we had to stop and breath a lot! One of our guys passed out and they had to bring him some oxygen. It was almost a sheer vertical walk.

Enjoyed the video. I keep saying I need to hike that trail as it is just down a ways from where I live.
