New symetrical winter top cover with moon light hatch available at Dutchwaregear.com

So if you bought the Chameleon hammock body, you can change to a wide assortment of tops and accessories. This makes it so you can personalize and customize your hammock to fit the type of camping you want at any given time. You can go without bugnet and save the weight of the top and now there is an almost endless variety of tops you can get for your Chameleon. So you don't need a different hammock if you are going car camping, winter camping, bug season, or wanting to go ultralight. It all comes down to a very special zipper we developed that lets you interchange the tops along with some well thought out D ring placements. My newest one is a symmetrical winter top cover. You can get a very simple one that just has a vent on it. Or you can get one with a removable moonlight. What is a moonlight? It is a panel the completely encloses the generous vent and you can remove it, zip it down from the peak, or zip it up from the middle of the hammock, or you can unzip one side and clip it over so it blocks wind but allows a lot of venting. Of course you will still be able to use all your favorite Chameleon accessories with this latest top cover. Also since it is a symmetrical top cover, you can switch throughout the night which direction you want to lay.

It’s funny reading how people complain about buying so much cool Dutch gear... and then I became one of them.

Lol, I love how we are greeted by a hammock named Dutch and then this dude comes out in his PJ’s to teach us all about it! I like this idea very much. Next obvious question: Can you combine this with an integrated sidecar?

Can't decide which is cooler--the new topcover or Dutch's pants!

Seriously, the new topcover is under serious consideration here. Another great idea!

Anyone have any thoughts on why this couldn't be an all-in-one year round setup? With the panel removed in Summer it basically is 1/3 open with bug net. Do you think it would get too hot. If not, for about 200 bucks you have a versatile use all the time system.

I prefer a top cover all year but I live where it is rare to have an above 70 degree night. In general, I want may hammock warmer and I can only remember a handful of nights that I was roasting in a hammock. So I think it may depend on where you camp at.

Thanks Dutch. Sounds like it could easily work for year-round for me. I very rarely get too hot sleeping even in Summer and I would be in similar conditions that you are. Really great design!!

I think it’s awesome that he’s wearing a little shop of hammocks shirt in his own video.

Dutch is clearly a community type of guy; that's one of many things I genuinely admire about him.
