Canadian Hammock Gear and DIY Supplies

I recently discovered Hofman Outdoor Gear Supply and wanted to share my experience, especially with my fellow Canadians (shipping from the US can get expensive!). HOGS is both a source of DIY materials and gear made by them (both custom and ready-made).

I’m personally waiting on a custom, double layer hammock, their Aurora. It’s from their 49th Parallel brand (which is their made-by-them stuff). I was able to try one out at the Manitoba Outdoors Show and it was super comfortable and has lots of little details (grosgrain loops both inside and out, for example) without being over-constructed. Very, very excited.

Also a source of hardware, fabrics, down and climashield, which I’ll definitely be taking advantage of.

Plus, I met them in person and they seem really awesome!

Super exciting development, Garrit (and HOGS) have agreed to sponsor my cross-Canada canoe trip for Cystic Fibrosis awareness! Company coolness confirmed in my books!
