    Sleeping Bag

So I finally got out for my long awaited night in the trees. It was a beautiful site on the lake with lows about freezing. While setting up my rig I discovered that I had forgotten my sleeping bag. I still had my under quilt and a small blanket for inside my bag. I tried to tough it out, but I only made it until about 1 a.m. Has anyone else pulled a sweet move like this?

I forgot to pack my food for a quick overnight once. "Survived" on hot chocolate/coffee and snack mix. Could have made some cattail stew, but couldn't find any ramps in the area so I stuck with what I had.

Not yet but I'm sure it'll happen one day. I use to forget a few little things and finally made me a hammock check list and keep that in my gear box. This helps a lot.

I had too much of that happened when I was a kid, when my parents pack for me. now I double and triple check my Loadout every time I go out.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

What TrailSlug said - checklists. My mind is not what it used to be and it never was much to begin with. Recently, I couldn't find a tree table that I bought last year. Searched the house (twice), basement (twice), and garage (thrice). No luck. After getting out of my car yesterday, something told me to look in my trunk. Not just in the trunk, but where the spare tire is located under the trunk "floor." And there it was...in the last place I looked. Can't remember putting it there for "safe keeping" for the life of me. Just glad I looked.

This would have been a perfect time for the hot water bottle hammock trick. If you don't have the proper bottles you might want to look into that.

I packed two top quilts one time. Had a double layer hammock and so I placed on of TQs between the two layers. Was cool that night but I made it through till morning.

I just posted recently about an incident I had over the holidays. I forgot my stove kit that had both my stove and my utensils. I did however have a stainless steel water bottle and a cat hole shovel...had to make do with what I had if you know what I mean.

To me that's part of the fun of it.

I once forgot my hammock by packing two tarps instead. My hammock!

I remember when you told me that story....That's a classic! My hammock always goes in my blaze orange double ended stuffsack. That way, it's impossible to mix it up with my tarp.
