I wasn't sure the best place for this so I figure it would post it here also:
I rarely post my DIY creations, but I feel proud enough of this one to put it out there.
I just finished a one-of-a-kind OutdoorInk UL Frameless pack. I altered an existing pattern to some colors I thought were cool, and then matched and printed the other colors. The pack uses HD300 and 1.7 pocket mesh, along with various hardware pieces from different places that I thought were both functional and UL.
I added a uretek zipper pouch on one side and a split pocket on the other. Half of the pocket is a sleeve to slide my chromedome umbrella or hiking pole etc., and the other half is a small pocket for my wind shirt/snacks/headlamp etc. It has a large mesh pocket with HD300 at the bottom for durability and some decent sized water bottle pockets.
I chose to go with ¼ 3d mesh S-shaped straps, and a padded hipbelt for some extra stability. I added a shock cord retainer for my sit pad, that helps add some comfort and rigidity. I also used the shoulder strap attachment method that Cody at App UL uses. It allows the straps to move in and out depending on the user, and your movements. The straps adjust with reflective cord instead of webbing. Plenty of daisy chain for adding strap/belt pockets etc.
The pack uses our Venom UHMWPE pack webbing as binding and for some of the adjustments, and that really help cut down on weight. It also has a bathtub bottom, and a cinch and roll top.
It ended up being around 35L+ and weighs 12.4 oz. This is the first pack I have made that I felt was really solid quality, and I feel like it is now my child.
