Hey all! Here’s a photo of the Thunderfly, Bushwack Camo 30D poly, pitched over the XLC. They come with Warbonnet’s mini carabiners, 1 for each side. So when the doors are folded back over the main tarp, the mini carabiners clip them together securely. That’s not in the photo here, but it works well.

Here all, so happy that this shot is a hit. Here’s all 3 from that afternoon. The Bushwack Camo Thunderfly is amazing, love it! It even comes with a Bushwack Camo stuff sack, that was a nice surprise opening the box.

I've been giving this a bit of thought too since the introduction of the mini fly and the thunderfly. All in all, I've been trying to cut some ounces from my packweight over the last year, so I tend to gravitate towards lighter weight options. I currently own a Warbonnet Edge sized tarp in Silnylon that weighs about 15.5 pounds with the tie outs. It's perfect for 3 season use, and it does pretty well in a deluge. I had my first experience in cold weather hammock camping in South Louisiana where the lows got down to 29 (don't laugh! that's cold for us That created a desire for a tarp with longer sides and doors. I get to looking at these fancy new warbonnet tarps using Silpoly, and now they're bigger and weigh less than my old silnylon tarp!

I think I'd go for the thunderfly based on these two options only. For a tiny weight penalty, you get some longer ends for porch mode which is always (usually) nice.

I very much had this debate in my head when I was looking for a tarp upgrade. I went with the minifly. End door coverage is definitely adequate. When staked down I stay nice and dry. Only con is I sometimes wish I had a few more inches when in porch mode. I got the 20d, hard to complain about 11.75 oz.
