Maybe a bit off topic, but finally after weeks of eager wait for the pack to arrive from US I just got the Warbonnet Thunderfly.
Much lighter than my previous tarp. Probably around 5-600 grams saved. Volume was also just barely noticeable in my pack, being about 1/3 of the previous tarp. It covers my hammock really well.

This weekend I had two nights in the woods with it and it didn't disappoint. Truth to say, it was perfect weather, so I really didn't need it, but I set it up anyway just because.
I didn't fasten the ends as I forgot two sticks at home. Could have used a dead branch or something of course but it worked fine anyway having open ends.
It was a breeze to set it up and deploy it using snakeskins. I set it up high to be able to peek out of the hammock. Certainly I have to practice a bit to get both the hammock and tarp set up properly w.r. height etc. But I am really liking hammocking now. Just being able to peek out from the hammock is great.

Added four photos of this last trip into the Swedish woods. Nothing really fancy, but I know I wouldn't get the dawn photo or even see the skies at 0500 if I was sleeping in a tent. Peeking out from the hammock seeing the colors of the skies made me just jump out in long johns and grab my camera.

I have a question for you experienced hangers. I'm buying the minifly. I plan on using a snakeskin and I'm wondering if the tarp with the snakeskin will fit back into the stuff sack that comes with the tarp?

Edit to add. I have a Onewind two piece snakeskin(12')

Good choice. The answer is yes - I have the Minifly in a mesh tarp skin and it fits back inside the WB stuff sack along with my CRL, prussiks, and mini S-biners for the “mini doors”. I don’t normally carry it this way when backpacking as I just stuff the folded skin into the outside mesh pocket on my pack.

Yes it does, as Twisty said.
I do not know onewind, I own a dutchware 2 pieces snakeskin and both fit into the original stuff sack. Although I use to do like Twisty, using the mesh pocket of my rucksack.
    Excellent tarp! Enjoy it!

And in case anyone is wondering ... I have the Thunderfly and it also fits back in the stuff sack with all the accouterments inside my mesh snake skins. My stakes would probably fit too, but I always pack them separately to avoid the accidental puncture. I also do the same thing Twisty and Halfed do when backpacking: no stuff sack, skinned tarp in an outer mesh pocket, stakes in a different outer pocket.

Thanks y'all. The Onewind isn't mesh. I believe its a rip stop type of fabric? Either way it sounds like it will work.

New to all of this, but after reading, I just ordered my first set up from WB - I ended up going with the Thunderfly tarp - just because I don't really know what I want as it seems to vary greatly by personal preference. But I would rather be in a situation where I would like to see out a little less coverage for weight savings vs. wishing at 2 am that I had more coverage. Either way, I have started my MYOG journey as well So I am welcoming the comfort or challenge of making something new.
