    Ontario only really sports black bears and in the extreme north of the province polar bears. In the winter black bears will usually be deep in hibernation, normally within 5' of where 76 Highboy pitches his camp.

    The bears are not an issue. All Canadians have a quart of maple syrup on them at all times. Whenever a bear is encountered they splash out some maple syrup and the bear will be occupied by the syrup for at least 30 minutes.

    I can probably make it Saturday afternoon and stay for the night. I can get the GPS coordinates from a Niger Lake camp photo from last weekend if anyone is interested. As mentioned, there may be some firewood ready for use at that camp.
