Looks like a great trip in a pretty cool area. Wonder what those walls were put up for way out in the woods like that? Should've asked the Ranger!
Always fun getting out on the trail with your buddies.
Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a great trip. Glad to hear you all stayed warm with your 0 degree quilts!
Kinda figured out that those walls were actually where they had built up the road bed. Pretty cool
Nice trip and glad everyone stayed warm. A lot of good water features for sure.
Take care
Thanks for taking us along with you on your trip. I love the Savage Gulf area but it can be some tough hiking if your not in shape. Those walls were man made. The Stagecoach Road Historic Trail follows the old route of the Stagecoach Road that ran from McMinnville to Chattanooga. Construction of the road began in 1830 and depended heavily on slave labor. The old roadbed, with its rock walls and stone cribbing, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Enjoyed it and commented in youtube...i'm the one trying to explain the geology in one sentence...sigh...
How about that connector trail? Can get tough.
I enjoy working for my heat...it seems to make my food taste better. -Richard Proenneke
