Solo overnight winter hammocking at Mystery Falls, Part 1

We had just gotten over a foot of snow and had a warm day to melt most of it, but still got into the lower 20's with a healthy wind (not -20 degrees or such that my friends from the north do, but cold for us Georgians). My goal is to up the bar on production quality trail reports, be entertaining, yet informative. At camp, I cover many of the tips and tricks I've used over the years (some I learned over 40 years ago and other I learned less than 40 days ago). Let me know what you think, I'm working on Part 2 now.

Spoiler alert, yes my drone still works after recording video a couple feet deep under water (lost comms and it fell into pool for a couple of minutes at the falls):

Enjoyed the video and it is amazing that the drones are water proof as well.

Hey I enjoyed your videos but I was wondering the names of the songs you use?

I'm glad Sparky is ok! That was really dramatic seeing the whole thing happen from the drone's perspective.

Thanks for posting and I enjoyed the video. I use jute twine for a lot of uses around camp and now I'll have to try this paraffin and jute combination, it sure looked interesting.

Excellent video and the music was great. Headed out tonight and have the Packet Gourmet chilli in the pack along with a couple other of their selections. Can't wait to try it out . Thanks for sharing and take care,

if you are going to be in SUPER humid and wet conditions, after your first good soaking in paraffin, try slight ruffling up and resoaking a second time. Keep that batch separate, you won't always need those, but take a few when you know you need extra protection.

Much appreciated. I spend a LOT of time on EpidemicSound.com picking each song. I then use that song, do my edits and cuts to the music. In Part 2, you will see dozens and dozens of carefully timed jump cuts and edits to the beat of the music. I'm a musician on the side (percussionist), so it is impossible for me to not think about the beat. The creative part of me, feels the meaning of the music and the ebbs and flows, doing the timing of the videos. Hopefully I will get where I pick the music in advance and then when I work through my shot list, I will have even more thought behind everything.

VERY fun stuff. The best part is combining this all with backpacking, hammocking, and family. Have a great day!!
