Yeah, I'll actually miss the entertainment value! Won't be surprised to see him reincarnated soon...
The whole concept of LNT is about what you LEAVE when you exit the area.
Be No Trace.... Never heard of it...... The entire reason I go out there is to get away from people and their arbituary rules.
I suppose if you camp on other peoples property or regulated land, you have to follow somebodys rules but go to crown land and you can tell anyone complaining about the color of your gear to bugger off.
Color is a preferance. Some will go one way, some will go another.
Avoid ANYONE who feels they can justify their color choice as somehow better than yours. You don't need negitave people like that in your life.
Not true at ALL. It's about leaving an impact which can be done by leaving and taking while visiting. So next time you're hanging, I'll visit to shoot off 500 bottle rockets from 2am-4am as long as I pick the stuff up and not leave anything.
So if you come across an area of unique, rare flowers, it's OK to pick them all? That's leaving a trace. Is taking a bunch of fossils and rocks in a geological area OK? That's leaving a trace.
It's about low impact and respecting everyone else. Everyone measures a different degree of what is "too much", so I just like to err on the side of caution. I agree the color thing is a bit crazy, but it has been stated before.
That's why those things are decidedly NOT OK. That's a strawman.
I think we can agree there is a degree of sense that can be reasonably applied here. Shooting off Roman candles in the woods, ignoring the potential for fires and likelihood of leaving debris everywhere, is many times and in every way more obtrusive than a person sleeping in a distastefully-colored hammock in those same woods.
Me, I prefer earthtones... but I'm not going to crap on someone's lime green hammy if it makes them happy.
HYOH. Don't shoot fireworks in the woods.

I guess so. I'm just stating what I've seen posted in some areas. I don't know if they're even rules per se. More guidelines they want visitors to follow. Like I said, on the side of caution so everyone can experience the wilderness. Key word is "wilderness". If we're talking some state land with more visitors than disney world, I guess it's a lost cause at that point.
In that case, I'll be doing my best to remove all those obnoxious fall leaves so no one is offended. (We are talking about Leaves, aren't we?)
Going to be a busy Autumn in the Adirondacks this year.
