A while back we were doing a foray in Robson Provincial in Canada. I went down to pump water from the river. When I got back my back packing buddy commented about a raven that was sitting in a near by tree "I don't like the look of that guy.". In Robson they have mandatory tenting sites with something like a high up metal merri-go-round with hooks for hanging attractants from. The next morning when we got up the stuff sacks that we had put our food in were shredded on top and our food tore into by the Ravens. After that we learned to put a metal pot at the top of the stuff sacks prior to hanging and had no further problems.

I don't know of any such principle related to Leave No Trace. You sure you have the right program?

Edit: Never mind - I guess LNT does mention colors but I don't agree with anything they say.

"Bright clothing and equipment, such as tents can be seen for long distances are discouraged. Especially in open natural areas, colors such as day-glow yellow are disturbing and contribute to a crowded feeling; choose earth-toned colors (ie. browns and greens) to lessen visual impacts."
Then again, there's a lot about LNT I disagree with.

It's going to take something more to convince me that colors are "visual pollution" in the back country. Anyone that has been in any forest in a New England autumn would scoff at that.
Still, the idea that hunters are going to shoot someone in a hammock at night is a stretch.

Not actual LNT, but I've seen it in the rules for certain wilderness areas. I tried to find some example but I'm not having any luck...
But yes, a low impact means low impact. For me, that includes obnoxious colors and patterns when a simple tent or tarp will suffice. I know that sounds extremely strict to most, but that seems to be what it takes these days with hardly anyone following the rules anyway. They also get into prohibiting radios....not playing music...actually bringing in a radio! Oldschool rules though. Now a phone plays music, so a massive gray area.
Man, I'm feeding a banned troll. Shame.
