Maybe better to have a bright orange tarp than a bright colored hammock as that is more visible and in most cases covers the hammock.

I'll take the LNT angle on this. Bright colored gear is more intrusive to the eye of others than nature color gear; blending in is considerate.

Hunting season here is short so I just stay away from legal hunt areas. I have a big bright Orange tarp I use if I want to be seen. I also have a big red love tarp. I also have a camo that is not stealth at all. Most of the camo really stands out in my opinion.

If I am going for stealth darkish and site selection are the key.

Camo, (of which I am not a fan since I am not a hunter, soldier or back-yard Rambo wannabe,) does not make you invisible. The unnatural straight lines of a tarp are a giveaway for anyone thinking they are unseen.

I like colors on my equipment, but not because I am afraid of hunters. I don't equate LNT with being invisible BEFORE I leave. Anyone who has been in a New England forest during autumn would not consider colors to be "unnatural."

I like to hike in bright orange T-shirts in the summer and bright orange/red down jackets in the winter. I'm not looking to be invisible on the trail (or shot by accident).

However, when I make camp (which is usually just before dark) I like to be less visible so I'm more with olive and brown tarps and hammocks. That being said, I recently got the REI bridge hammock to try which is bright orange.

Now my quilts, especially my top quilt, are pretty bright (often with an orange side, you know, just in case) because they are mostly hidden by my hammock/tarp so it really doesn't matter what color they are. I just like the bright colors in my hammock because it makes me happy -- especially if it's cold or dreary.

This is something I worry about 0% of the time.

But I guess I shouldn't take my deer hammock out anymore. It wasn't very comfortable anyway.
