Ridgerunner with Thunderfly and Dutch Pole Mod Pics

Just thought I'd post some recent backyard pics of the WB Ridgerunner setup under the WB Thunderfly tarp with Dutch Pole Mods in case some folks wanted to see what it looks like. This particular pitch went from nice weather to windy 30 mph gusts with light snow and was held in place by Dutch titanium hooks.

I've got an easy quick removable stormy weather dogbone hack that I mentioned in another post where I wrap the foot end with Nitize gear ties to allow tighter door closure. Makes its slightly more tippy and changes the dynamics but it's negligible so try at your own risk.

In my opinion, the poles help determine the height you can hang the WBRR from the top of the tarp. With the poles, you can bring the tarp lower for a tighter pitch.

Without the pole mod, you can't take the WBRR up higher unless you pitch/ stake the tarp guylines out wide. The pole mods do make it feel more open and roomy inside but it's not necessary to have them.

The tarp with pole mods also act different in the wind than without. It's a little bit of a seesaw effect because when the wind blows hard on one side it pushes the other side up.

Also there is more space inside for things to blow around but it makes easier to be inside the tarp without worrying about accidentally hitting the tarp walls with the spreader bars.

If you have a spindrift you can go with a smaller tarp pitched higher or wider if the privacy factor is not a concern or if you don't spend a lot of time under the tarp.

If i bring this WBTfly tarp i will most likely bring the pole mods because they are light and i'll have spreader bars anyways.

You can also use the pull outs with some guy line attached to a tree or too a stick and stake. Having the pole mods means you don't have to look for a stick or extra tree.

Thanks for the pictures. I'd like to see some pictures of the Ridgerunner under the Thunderfly without any shortening of the suspension triangle. Any chance of that?
