Shock Cord or Zing It for Tie Outs on Winter Palace CF/Dyneema Tarp?

My partner recently bought me an awesome Valentine's Day/Anniversary gift - a Winter Palace CF tarp. I'm pretty stoked, and in awaiting for it's arrival, I've been thinking how I want to set it up. My current tarp is a Superfly - for my tieouts, I use Dutch's fleaz, which are on a piece of shock cord attached to the tie outs on the perimeter. I'd like to continue using this setup on the Winter Palace because it works for me. The question I'm asking myself is if I should put the fleaz on shock cord or on zing it on the CF tarp?

I've read a bunch on this forum and also watched a lot of videos where people swear that using shock cord on CF isn't necessary and also where people do use it. Those posts I came across were from a few years ago (unless I missed a newer one somewhere) so I thought I'd ask again in case any new piece of information or insight has come around in the last 2 years.

What do you do? Is it just personal preference? Thanks in advanced!

My 2 cents is that I leave the hookworms on the zing it and wrapped with the stakes, and shock cord on the tarp.
I did this to keep hardware off the tarp when bundled up, and I like the ease this set up so far.

I have shock cord on my Palace and Hookworms on Reflectic attached to tent stakes. I like the little bit of shock cord for “Give” to the Tarp in case there are high winds or I accidentally trip on cordage. It is a personal choice but I took Dutch’s word himself when asking this same question and guying out the new Tarp. You can use the same system as the Superfly or try something new. Shock cord is not necessary on cuben fiber, but some like it (i.e., Shug).

I use shock cord (3mm, doubled) with cuben tarps and I like to think that it provides some stress relief at the guy line attachment points.

My HG hex w/doors got hammered pretty hard (wind, buckets o' rain) a couple of weeks ago for more than 12 hours straight with no apparent damage. Would it have been okay without shock cords? Hmm... dunno.

    Maybe somebody has tested this.

On my HG Winter Palace I put 4 Dutch Fleas that he shock corded for me and leave them on the tie outs. When I stumbled on a guy line last time out I was really glad they were there to take up some shock. For the doors I use Dutch's door hooks with a limited amount of shock cord and reflective guy line secured from the corner tieout to the opposite door.Takes me four stakes to set up.I use the hiking poles or a stick if I want to use the side pull outs.

neither me or my hiking buddies use shock cord on the cuben tarps. No need for it. Also, buying a cuben tarp is about shaving weight off your back, adding shock cord is going against that. But again, nice on sil, unnecessary on cuben.

Thanks for the video... I think I might have seen that before. I manage my doors the same exact way right now on my superfly.

Thanks everyone for your input... as I suspected, about 1/2 of the group does one over the other lol.

You're right, it is about shaving weight, and my CF tarp is going to weigh less than my superfly no matter what I do/add to the tieouts. Also, interesting to note, when you go on Dutch's website, the fleaz with shock cord weigh 1 gram each, but the fleaz with zing it loops weigh 1.5 grams. So the shock cord is actually lighter in this instance.

On CF tarp I use zing-it loops with Fleaz attached to tarp tieouts....then keep zing-it lines attached/wrapped to the stakes.
