Video Hammock Hot Tenting

Got out this past week in the Hammock Hot Tent for 3 days 2 nights in -18c chill
If you ever get a chance .....do it.
Anyways, a video of the scenery in my neck of the woods hanging in the hills.

Beautiful area. That had to be some hard hiking as the area looks steep and that pulk looked heavy. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful spot. Well worth the haul I'm thinking. Scenery is outstanding. My wife was watching this and she just shook her head no . Did bargain down to a new set of -15 quilts next year.

The pulk with everything weighed no more than 50lbs...maybe closer to the 40 side of the scale....one section was steep enough that I put the back pack on me to get up.
By the crow it is one mile from home to my spot with 730' of elevation gain....trail is about 2.5 miles long. About 4.5hrs plus to haul up and 2 hrs down.
I have split wood stashed there so by the time I got there and setup it was dark and a fire was a quick go.
The scenery makes it ALL worth the effort....why I live here vs Ontario

Hammocks and Winter just plain rocks

People think I'm nuts for doing....but with the right gear it is truly easy peasy and extremely comfortable.
Below -18c I would prefer a larger stove to get more heat going but it all still does fine to -27c.

Temps ranged from -11c to -18c(0f) and I wear only my winter mocs, thermo hair socks, merino wool heavy base layer, wool pants, merino wool hoodie and cotton canvas Anorak and would be totally comfortable out in the elements doing. Can't say enough good things about 'traditional' winter wares. With the hot tent the chill never creeps in.
In the hot tent at the floor the temps would float around the freeze mark and around 15c by the stove.
With the right gear as said the comforts are certainly there with no bugs or bears or people around....just big cats haahhaha.

Nice! It wouldn't make sense to have something like that down here, but I can definitely see the advantages!

Is there any risk that small embers fly out of the stove and land on your gear?

Far far from any 'city' in these parts. The town here may have 3000 people over the entire valley.
Embers can and do land on the tent creating small holes...no way around it really and nothing that some seam seal can't fix.
And do get out there even if for a night ....ease into to it and learn the ways
