Question Single Tarp Tie or The "V"

I would like to know if more are creating the "V" described in the ultimate hang or just single lines to the trees?

Im a V guy, myself. I like the simplicity and ease of adjustment of a clevis hooked CRL.

I use the V with lashit and Dutch stingerz. You get mechanical advantage and quick easy adjustment. Plus I don’t have my hammock suspension rubbing against my tarp suspension making odd noises / vibration which tend to wake me up!

I use the V as well and a UCR as the adjustable bit...aka no hardware. The following two videos show my setup, the first one a overview and the second one a slight modification to the first.

The "V" is the only way for me!

I experiemented with a lot of different ways early in my hammock experience. I still have many options available but I always grab my Stingers ; 2 w/15" of 1.75mm Lash-it spliced on each.

i started with the V but now use a CRL with soft shackles, for me soft shackles are easier to adjust.

I use the V, pretty much like the middle illustration except I run my ridgeline through the the small rings at each end of the tarp’s ridge and have a small continuous loop made of lash-it connected to the small ring at the head end of my tarp and a Dutch Wasp connected to the small ring at the foot end of my tarp. I have a tiny Dutch hook connected to the head end of my ridgeline cordage that I “V” around the tree then clip onto the continuous loop attached at the head end of the tarp. Then I “V” the other end of the ridgeline around the foot end tree and secure it to the Wasp attached to the foot end of the tarp. The thing I like about this method of hanging my tarp is that it allows me to freely slide my tarp forward or backward to center it over my hammock before staking it down. It’s just super simple.

I don't think they have to be mutually exclusive. I'm working on a CRL using soft shackles and the V . More to come!

To answer the OP, it's all about personal preference. Experiment with your ridgeline until you find what works for you! Personally, I currently use a Dutch Hook on one side and a Fleaz on the other fo adjustability with deep V's.

I like the V. But its less necessary that you think. So really, comes down to preference only.
