Hi all. This is new to me, hope it is better than the ground. It got to where I have been pitching my tent near a tree to help standup after crawling out. Here to read and learn . Will hang around. Tut

Welcome to Hammock Forums and please be prepared for information overload If you have question please do post. Most of the folks here will be happy to help out. Here is a little something to get you started.
1) Read all the sticky posts at the top of each section here at Hammock Forums. You will find all of your questions answered plus questions you have not thought of yet.
2) Go to You Tube and watch all of Shug's videos. He will also answer all your questions but make you laugh. Leave lots of times to watch these
3) Google The Ultimate Hang and read Derek's The Ultimate Hang pages. He does a great of explaining things you did not even know you needed to know. He also does great diagrams so it's easy to understand.
4) Attend a Hammock Forum group hang before you invest any addition $ in your gear. There folks will show you and let you check out their gear so you can make educated decisions based on your own comfort levels

Hello and welcome from Marietta GA. Good luck with your journey and Happy hanging!
Welcome from a former northern NY resident. Still camp back home in the Adirondacks as often as possible and I'm new to hammock camping myself. Working out my system and acquiring gear for both winter and summer.
Crawling out of my tent isn't as easy as it was decades back either but I still enjoy a sleep on terra firma once in a while.

Hello and welcome from Northern Arkansas! Ground camping hurts too much which is why I love the air! Enjoy the journey!
Hello and welcome from NW PA, I was like you too. I talked myself into hammocks then after watching some videos and trying to research here I decided hammocks were NOT going to work. The interest was still there so I kept rewatching and rereading and it all clicked. We love our hammocks!

Hello and Welcome From West Virginia!
I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do. -J. Muir
