Video: Big South Fork Dec 17

This video shows our trip to Big South Fork after Christmas Dec 17. I enjoyed the trip with good friends and seeing familiar trails in a different season. The theme was low miles and big fires. It ended up just being lower miles and good fires. We hiked 7 miles on Wednesday and 11 miles on Thursday in some of the more scenic areas of the BSF. Everyone used hammocks and stayed warm in the very low teens.

Looks like a great hike with some good company. So much for low miles though Hope everyone is OK with the aforementioned medical issue. Thanks for sharing. Do you have a gps trail of this hike?

No GPS since we had been there many times. Bandy Creek to Grand Gap then on John Muir to about a mile past where the bikes go left to Duncan Hollow Road. We parked at end of Duncan Hollow Road and backtracked the mile or so to the car on Friday morning.

HIPAA laws keep me from disclosing medical info but everyone is fine Just brought a little part of my work into this

Excellent. Glad to know all are well and thanks a ton for the directions. This area is on my todo list.

Looks like a fun time. Great pro-tip on burying your water in the leaves to keep it from freezing. Can't wait to hike with you and Roche again so y'all can build me another one of those upside down fires lol.

Enjoyed watching the video of my old stomping ground. I can tell I have been out of the loop for a long time as I only recognized Roche and hangnout.

Thanks for watching. It was interesting to get a true cold weather hike on a familiar trail. Stay warm in Mexico!

I enjoy watching the videos that you and other folks post esp when it is cold. I would freeze my butt off up there now. You get use to this weather and anything below 75° seems cold

Great video & sure looked like a fun trip.

Was Archie's grave marker/headstone in a remote part of the woods all by itself or was it from some old backwoods cemetery?

    Thanks for sharing.
