    Mind blown! Almost

I thought this would be less complicated than my tent! Now that I have a hammock, tarp, bug net and suspension, (Christmas present from my son) I figured I I had this hammock thing in the bag! I think I that I'm getting a bad case of information overload on HF.

Having the collective wisdom of so many hangers available in one location is really a blessing and a curse. We are "blessed" because of the abundance of wisdom and practical experience available on the Forum, and we are "cursed" in that it takes time and patience to wade through the mass of material and recommendations.

Enjoy tour new Christmas presents and look forward to engaging Mother Nature from a new, elevated perspective! Welcome to the Forum.

Hello and welcome from Northern Arkansas! It can definitely be overwhelming, but it is really worth the effort. Be patient, finding what works for you consistently can take time! Enjoy!

Welcome from No. VA. It is a lot to digest but it will give you a very comfortable night in the woods!

Hi Welcome! and yeah, there is ton's of information about different products, gizmo's, ways to set up.
Get the book noted above "The Ultimate Hang V 2". Read that slowly. Figure out what you already have. Get comfortable with all that. Perhaps list what the gear is and then some others with the same gear, can add pointers.
Consider a group "Hang" in the spring, near you. A GREAT way to meet other hammockers who will gladly show you their rigs.
Oh, and there also seems to be the constant "fiddle" factor with hanging. You see some new Dutch hardware, or some underquilt from a vendor, or you read about some new tree straps.....

And You will need a under quilt and you can use a makeshift sleeping bag for a top quilt

Just be patient and enjoy the hammock quest.
Take one element at a time.
Just get a good hang on the hammock first.
    Breathe.
    Un-clench.
    Carry forth.

OK, Randy. I may not be a doctor, but I know the cure.

You need to log off all social media. Turn off all electronics. Unplug the phones. Go hang your new gear and immerse yourself in Science and Research & Development....

Go take a much needed nap in the hammock for.....say......6 hours. It's research time.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

Thank you all for the suggestions. I should have stuck to watching Shugs videos for awhile longer. It seems the more I check things out the more overwhelmed I feel! I think that I just need to get out and do it as and see where that gets me. Again, thank you all.
