Pics or it didn't happen. I was up in the cleveland NF a couple years ago when I was on a business trip to San Diego. I'm from Cleveland, Ohio, so it sounded like fate. haha. That being said, there weren't many trees. I am shocked it can accommodate a hanging group!
Cleveland NF is pretty huge, about 720 sq miles with lots of forested mountain terrain. It has 24 peaks over 5000 ft mixed in with chapparal and riparian landscape. Falcon campground is at 3400' with plenty of trees.
The PCT runs 110 miles thru this NF and many hikers used to Eastern trails like to call this part "the desert". I think that and the rocky looking mountains add to the misconception that this area is treeless. There are tons of majestic oaks and higher up pines and firs.
I'm sorry Addam and SoCal hangers that we missed this year. The car was packed on Friday when we decided to stay home due to a family member with failing health. I know you'll be there next year, and God willing so will we.
