There's always a critic! LOL
Yes lbs, fixed now, cheers.
Cheers back. Too many years as a machinist then an inspector.

This instruction sheet:http://www.samsonrope.com/Documents/...l-Blue_WEB.pdf is what I recall but it says 70%(just under the title). It was updated in 2017. The Internet WayBack Machine does not have an archive.
In order to reconcile my possibly faulty memory with my arrogance and rigidity I will claim that the guide used to indicate a greater loss of strength but with additional testing and field experience Samson has greater confidence in this sling and has raised it's strength rating.
I tried to go further back.
60% here,

60% here too.

Those both describe whoopie slings. They adjustable bury splices are inherently weaker, because they do not taper the bury, so there is a sudden change in diameter where the buried cord exits the constrictor.
After my tests, I am gonna struggle to work up much excitement about a locked brummel weakening my splices.
I was too brief again.
I did see that as a Whoopie Sling. I was just adding something i found in a quick search.
I should have added that I really was posting that the rating of the percentage of loss was different from then to now. Then 60%, now 70%.

Thanks snwcmpr for validating my arrogance and rigidity! Your Internet Archive skills clearly exceed mine.
Your right GadgetUK437, it references the whoopee sling not the Brummel eye. I can't back that assertion up, not sure where I got the idea; it's probably one of those things everyone knows that is wrong.
Well... now that that's behind me I can go back to believing i'm right.![]()
