    Hennessy Rope --> Continuous Loops?

I've been using my HH with ENO Atlas XL straps. I've made the connection to the straps a few different ways, and they all seem to work, but I think I'd like to simplify a bit. Among the options I have used are:
    - Tie loop in rope with alpine butterfly knot, then connect to strap with biner. This works fine and gives me easy adjustability, but leaves me with 5 or 6 feet of excess rope at each end.
    - Tie rope directly to straps with becket hitch. This also works fine, but is a little messy. It also sacrifices a little bit of simplicity in the adjustment as I need to retie the knot each time to adjust.

Honestly, to the extent that I'm going to continue to use the Atlas straps, I'd like to go back to the simplicity of my ENO DN, where I just have a carabiner between the continuous loop on the hammock and the strap loops.

My question is, would the original Hennessey rope be good to use to create these loops? I'm thinking I can take the rope off, cut down to size for loops, then add back onto the hammock. Would gain simplicity in setup, and leave 10-12' of unused rope at home. Any downsides to this approach?

I know the Atlas straps are heavy, and eventually I will fully switch out for a lighter solution. I've dropped a good chunk of coin on other backpacking gear over the last 6 months or so though, so looking to work with what I have in this area.

I would buy 2 continuous loops from Dutch and install them for use with the Atlas straps. Then you are all ready for your next upgrade, and the loops are only $5 per pair. I use CL with whoopie slings or dutch beetles on my Hennessy. I was quite happy to get rid of the ropes.

Any chance of a picture of that?

My wife uses the setup you're putting together. Works really well for her.

I arranged hers with a larks head right in the stock suspension line to affix a small climbing specced carabiner on each end. I even color coded so it is obvious which is the head end... important for getting the head end lower without having to reverse it if you get it wrong the first try!

I back up the larks head with a half of a double fisherman's knot, then I cut and used a lighter to fuse the end of the rope so I don’t have the extra feet of rope hanging around. You are saving grams, but hey, why not save grams? Only caution before cutting your suspension line... consider whether you ever want to attach the tarp to that suspension line and leave enough rope to allow it unless you are 100% sure you will not attach the tarp to the suspension.

If you like Atlas Straps - and why wouldn't you? - look into Ultimate Straps when the budget allows for an upgrade. Same functionality for a fraction of the weight, and not terribly expensive either.

This is what I did. But use the Dynema Straps.
I bought 2 different colors so the head end was clearly identified.
This allowed me to use beetle buckles or cinch buckles. Much better than the Hennessy rope.

There is a You Tube video showing how to convert your HH over to Amsteel continuous loops.

You could also attach whoopie sling in lieu of the CL but I think I would go with CL and a biner to the Whoopie as a water break and for convenience to remove wet whoopies.

I changed my ropes out for CLs and just saved the ropes that way I can change back if ever needed.
It's really a simple and cheap changeout

You might want to start by using the existing HH rope and just tying a carabiner real close to the end of the hammock. If this works, cut off the excess rope.
You can always convert to cl later if you want.

Been thinking about changing to CL, what size loops are you using?
