You really should join the forums ...

For you guys not a member of the forums you are missing out on a ton of information that is shared in members only section. You really should consider joining the forums so these exchanges are event better.

I was a donating member, but decided not to donate again, based on some of my experiences here. Shame is I like these forums, but will not contribute due to some of the practices, all I'll say.

Please let us know why as some of us may not know the reasons why. Unless it's because they use these donations to keep the site up and running I'd like to know as well.

I don't care where my $10 goes...to help the site, buy Starbucks, toilet paper, coke, etc. Just keep it up and running. It's fast and never down from what I can tell. I love the discussion here even more than the actual hammock talk itself. If the mods get a little cash for their help, good. They do a great job and deserve it. Maybe it's volunteer, I forget.

I think we need a big banner, ad or something to point people in this direction. I bet there's a good deal of people that don't even know what we're talking about.

As a general rule, I don't support the membership business model for communities. I creates a divide between the two 'classes' of members. Even if unintentional, it can have an effect on the community as a whole. There's also more information on the public forums to keep me busy for a life time.

Also, I'm not really interested in supporting a forum as a business. I've administrated several message boards over the past 15-16 years. Most were quite a bit smaller than HF but 1 was about the same size and one was larger. This current system is not a donation to a charity, it's paying for access to information that other people have created. If it were the former, I would consider donating as I know the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to maintain a community this size and it's not easy. But the latter case is a model I do not support and won't give money to.

I agree OC. I didn't know there were other forums until I joined. It's literally the price of a good lunch I'm sure no one id getting rich off of this and if they are congrats

There really is no need for this to be said unless you give specifics. Only muddies waters for others and leads to unnecessary conjecture about what the hell you’re trying to say.

I agree but you know you can't make everyone happy these days so enjoy the added content and other can do as they choose as well. You know HYOH
