Howdy,
Still researching my first purchase, does anyone have any opinions on the WBBB XLC or Chameleon being more comfortable/better for side sleeping?

I can't comment on the Chameleon, but I side sleep just fine in my XLC. It's super comfy. That being said, I think you'll find that you won't side sleep in a hammock as much as you do a bed. I side sleep only at home, but in my hammock (or recliner at home) I sleep just fine on my back.

Agreed. I used to think "I can't sleep on my back, how will I manage in a hammock?" but as an inveterate side sleeper in a bed, I find being in the hammock on my back to be supremely comfortable. I do at times turn slightly to one side, but mostly never move, a big surprise to me!
I have both and side sleep in both but will tell you that I am more on my side in the Warbonnet XLC BB double. I find the XLC is a little flatter than the Chameleon. I also have a Chameleon single and double and the double is flatter. I am 6'1" for referance. If I had to buy only one I would buy the Warbonnet.
I have both and I find that I can't get a good side lay in either (nor any gathered end hammock) . I'm a side sleeper but when sleeping in gathered end hammocks nearly always sleep on my back as getting and staying on your side is a chore. This is the exact reason I prefer my Warbonnet Ridgerunner as the lie is flat and getting on your side is a bit easier but still a bit tight. If you haven't laid in a Ridgerunner you should give one a try as many like this hammock over gathered ends for the comfort and ease if under quilt management as the quilt can't move so there's no fiddling with the quilt. If I had to choose between my XLC and the Chameleon, It's close but, I'd choose my XLC for the storage shelf as this makes hanging so much more pleasurable without having to worry about quilts and gear falling out every time you clime in and out of the hammock.
Can't speak on the Chameleon but I have not problem sleeping on my left or right side in my BB's.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
I used an XLC for the entire AT and slept on my side quite a bit.
Side sleeper at home, side sleeper in the hammock. I actually moved around in my sleep a good bit and usually ended up in not quite on my side but not on my back either.
Both hammocks are great choices and comparably sized

I'm a side sleeper at home exclusively but in a gathered end hammock, I sleep very comfortably on my back. It took a night or two to get used to it, but now I much prefer being on my back in a hammock.
If you're serious about side sleeping, get a Ridgerunner.
