No, not recommended, but I've been there: first I set up the stand per normal (foot guy), then I put up the tarp, and as soon as I tension the tarp lines, I see that the stand guyline goes slack. Meaning that the tarp lines took over the load. Next, lay in the hammock, and the stand guyline is still slack! This using no head tether, just a counterweight.

I've been winter camping with the stand, in high winds with winter tarp in high desert and beach. The ground was frozen in desert, and I needed to use a rock to hammer in the little ti tarp stakes, but they sure held both tarp and stand. Needed earplugs because the roar of the wind rippling on the tarp was deafening. Big gusts would load the tarp enough to cause the hammock (and me) to rise and fall in the stand as if on high seas, fun times, but the stand itself never threatened taco. Tacoing isn't that hard to avoid even with no tarp and no head tether, especially after you've done it once so know how to avoid that edge. Tacoing with a tarp OR a head tether is really hard to make happen, and if you can taco it with both head tether and tensioned tarp, you qualify for some kind of award

Love the hotel room pix. That's hilarious.

I am getting ready to go on a business trip and plan on using my tensa4 in a hotel room. My one experience with it was it the best. When you set it up the bed it would seem very difficult to get in and out of and I would worry that the poles would hit the ceiling.
Are my concerns really non-issues or any thoughts around this?

I only set up on bed if no room elsewhere. Would only hit ceiling if taco or crazy low ceiling/high bed, but taco is (pardon me) an entirely avoidable rookie phenomenon, and rubber feet limit damage potential. Raftingtigger was worried it might damage mattress or bedding. But with 4 points of contact, seems to me as much stress on bed as standing on tip-toes. If you can stand on the bed you can get in or out of stand fine.

I would make sure that you've got enough cordage to ensure that you can let out the ridgeline longer than the ridgeline you have on your hammock. I made the rookie mistake of not having any extra so mine was hanging extra high and would have been rather difficult to manage on top of a bed had it been necessary. Some continuous loops would have been very nice to add some extra length.

Of course it sounds like you've already set yours up, so you're probably already pretty dialled in with your setup, and I would have already figured out these types of things I would hope.

We both reply from the single [email protected] address, signing our names. I don't see any un-responded-to messages however. Did you not get a reply?

I did not that I remembered. I will check my junk mail just in case but I have not received anything from that address since I got my first tensa.

Nope could not find anything in the junk folders.

What I asked was since I bought an original tensa 4 could I get two for the discounted price or is it the limited to the quantity you bought of the original? Also, I put a deposit for the new tensa 4 how will you know that I showed be charged the $190 and not the $290?

My mistake, DT: now I'm nervous about my mailbox management habits. Thanks for the heads up!
