    Best purchase of 2017?

Among all the *ahem* stuff purchased this year, were there any items stood out?

Here’s my top three in no order (one has to be hammock related):

UQ protector by 2qzq and Tachyon Pants from MontBell - really started to appreciate wind protection and these items helped me keep warm whilst moving or snoozing.

Zpacks Nero - I think this is as light as I can go for multi day backpack. I only used it once in the summer and was very pleased with it so far...

Just got my ULA Ohm 2.0 this summer. Got around 200 miles on it and have to say, this thing is awesome. I going to try may hand at taking it with me through the winter.

I would call this one gear, but I got to try the Hyper D 1.6 material from RSBTR. I have fell in love with this fabric. I hate to say that is a close fight between that and Hexon 1.6. Still to soon to call.

Last would be my new 0* phoenix econ I just got from the Black Friday Sale. I've only got 1 night in the backyard with a low of 28*. Can't wait to put a couple more on trail miles soon and push this guy down to the limits.

Ooh, this is fun. I bought almost all my gear this year. In no particular order:

HG Burrow Econ 20 (probably my favorite thing)
    HG Incubator Econ 20
    Dutchware Chameleon with bugnet
Dutchware peakshelf for the Chameleon—so awesome
Osprey Aether AG 70 (heavy, but comfortable for now)

I jumped in on the Dutchware kickstarter and purchased a chameleon this year. I love it! I upgraded from the dutch half-wit and I much prefer the full bug net. I also pulled the trigger on a CF tarp with doors but have actually only deployed it once out of the last few trips so I haven't enjoyed it to its full potential. I've enjoyed having a lighter tarp in my bag though!

I was thinking the half-wit will be on my 2018 list as I want a very light hammock with some bug protection. I camp in areas with lots of mosquitoes, spiders and other many legged creatures. Should this be of concern?

I think it's personal preference. I'm super creeped out by bugs and the thought of them so that's why I upgraded to the full bug net in the chameleon. I never had any actual issues with bugs in the half wit (tested in light to moderate buggy conditions). I just needed the extra peace of mind with the full. Overall I love the half-wit though and still have it as a back up.

I also got a Chameleon through the Kickstarter. I am so happy I got it, I have slept so well in that hammock. I love it. I also bought a ULA Circuit backpack and love that too! Shaved about 6 pounds off my very old Gregory backpack. Had a lovely backpack in Baxter State Park with it and my chameleon and made a huge difference in my comfort level.

Now I am in the process of getting a -5 deg Burrow for winter. Have to save up for the Incubator for winter but I can double up two UQ's for that until I can afford it.

    Happy Hanging everyone.

My Warbonnet BB XLC, SLD Winter Haven tarp and my HG Burrow 20 top quilt. All are great gear that I can't imagine not owning now that I've spent some time with them.
