    Ordering from Canada - Customs?

Has anyone from Canada had any issues ordering from the US? I ordered my Dream Hammock and have been tracking the delivery and it's saying the package is "Being Held In Customs" in Montreal. It's been there since the 16th of December. I'm hoping that this is standard and that it is merely delayed because of the fact that it's super busy this time of year.... Does anyone have any experience with customs when ordering from the US?

    yeah, both good and bad

it's sometimes luck of the draw where they'll feel the need to open your box and see what's inside, and other times just rubber stamp and it's thru with no delay at all

I just shipped a hammock to a forum member in Canada.

    *deleted*

I declared it a Hammock in the paperwork.

UPDATE: I just checked the package that I shipped on 12/08

It is also being held in Customs...at least reported on 12/15

Even if they open it up though there shouldn't be any issues should there? It's just a hammock? I don't even think there would be duties on it due to the fact that it's made in the USA and NAFTA? I don't mind a delay and I've resolved myself to the fact that I won't be getting it for Christmas (my fault for waiting too long to order it!). I just don't really know what "Being held in Customs" means...

The times look strange on your status updates there...It looks like it cleared customs at 4am but then says held in customs that same day at 2:00. That's strange eh?

Lol, that would be me. I'm watching closely. It wouldn't be the first time that my order has been held up by customs in Montreal. I just have to go with it because they are pretty much immune to my wrath...hah!

Sorry. I didn't realize it was being held by Customs.

This thread jogged my memory....so I went and checked the status.

Customs can take from 2 days to a week routinely ... at this time of the year it may be worse. My top quilt from HG took a week in customs and that was in the spring ... so as some one else said, it is a crap shoot.

I hate the wait ... but your only alternative is to drop ship to someplace like Buffalo and go pick it up. That's what I usually do now, as shipping to Canada from the US is ridiculous.
