WB Superfly Center Pole mod - pole length

Just sewed on the pockets(Thanks Donna!) Can someone confirm the pole length that should be needed? Pretty sure I found 110inches once upon a time. Of course now that I am looking for it can not find the post. Thanks!

Thank you for checking. Tight fit? Just curious if you would make them longer or shorter if doing it again.

    Yup.. 110"

Not tight.. Truth told, it could be a half inch longer and still fit, but why risk it. Longer wouldn't change the amount the tarp is opened up, just how close the pole is to the tarp ridge line. There is about 1.5" from the ridge line to the pole.

Better to staet a bit long, easy enough to trim. Better than trying to add more later.

Thanks! Worried about the stretch when wet so might try a bit longer. What is your guys take on the using the 145 degree arch piece from Quest at the top, versus just poles?

I have no experience with an arch, but I don't see why it would be desirable for this use. An arch would tend to minimize what you're trying to accomplish, i.e more intererior space.

I have tried it with the 145° and without. Truthfully, I don't notice much of a difference either way.

The one thing, however minor, is that when I used it without, one of the poles took a very slight permanent bend in it. With the 145°, I have not noticed that. It would not be a deal breaker either way the bend was ever so slight.. But my OCD noticed it.

I have the 145° bend in mine now, just because I put them in to try out, and I'm pleased with how they work.

One other thing to consider is how the extra small piece in there changes the configuration of how it collapses. Not a big deal, I just use a shorter pole next to it so it all collapses evenly.

Thanks all for the advice. CountryBois- What is your total pole length w/145, or how many poles( & size) on each side of 145? I like the short pole next to 145 to ease packing idea! How much space do you end up with between the top of fly and pole? Stoaked to get the pole in-place, but wanting to get it setup right the first time. Thanks again to everyone for sharing their EXP.

For anyone interested-- I ended up not using the 145 arch as it did not seem to make much difference. Pole length is 114.5. Super tight fit.
