I finally pulled the trigger, and am introducing myself!
IÂ’m an avid camper, and hiker, or at least I was until age caught up with me, and I could no longer sleep on tree roots. Hell, even climbing up from the ground got to where it hurt. No, IÂ’m not a septegenerian, yet.. a decade and a half away, but now I hope to be camping even at that age as discovering hammock camping has brought an the love of camping back to me! Many thanks to the members here, and YouTube videos I discovered while living vicariously though other campers experiences.
Well, I bought my first hammock this year in the early spring, and by the time summer ended I found that I own three hammocks, two underquilts, a fantastic sleeping bag, and a tarp! IÂ’m elated that I got out camping again! I went out to the Manistee National forest, hiked back in for a few miles, and set up camp. What a wonderful experience it was to be out in the forest again. ThereÂ’s something to be said about being in the forest, and I canÂ’t put my finger on it. ItÂ’s a visceral feeling. A prime feeling. Waking in the morning lofted in the air was wonderful. No aches, and to easily slide out of the hammock was grand. Wow, just wow!
ItÂ’s snowy downstate, and I am headed up north in mid January to camp again. IÂ’ve rented many a time in the winter, but again, years ago. I absolutely look forward to it in a hammock!
A heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you bringing back the forest to me again.
Now if you can, help me convince my wife that I need to hang a hammock in our room! That be a trick.
Regards, and hello from The shores of Anchor Bay in Michigan.
