    DIY splicing tools!!! CHEAP

    I was looking at OPIEs new splicing tool then at the price This is my DIY one. Brass rod found at a hobbie store RC cars or craft it is sold in 12" length. I used 0.032 solid and 1/16 x 0.014 hollow rod. Just cut small rod and insert into hollow one drop of super glue and your done. Works great and only a a few$$$

    Very clever - nice find on the items. How did you attach the wire loop at the end of the solid rod - with the superglue?

    The larger one is hollow smaller one will fit inside

    Nice solution. I've been fighting with my homemade tools and Lash-it. Looks like this would handle the smaller 1.75mm stuff easily.

    So the smaller rod is bent to form the loop and then you just glue the base loop end of the hollow rod closed. Right?

    I would think of putting a loop of wire thru the hollow one and leave a loop at one end and some out of the other end... that way you can open the loop to insert one end of line and pull the wire at the opposite end to tighten the loop so it stays in?

    just a short peice of wire in end. The sizes I used are to tight to come out other end. Might be able to make an ajustable one out of difrent size rod. Could also make larger one for biger rope. tons of diferent sizes advalable

    Even cheaper: sections of chrome plated tubing from a discarded telescoping antenna.

    Are those long enough? Small enough for 1.75mm?
