There is another thread somewhere on here that describes a loop turner. It makes splicing easier than anything. Most sewing places have them and they are fairly cheap and very durable.

I got a pack like this at Harbor freight (I couldn't find them on the webpage)

I broke off the end and took my grinder to the tip and its perfect.

I just bent a piece of .020 wire over, or whatever size I had. I used it on .049 solid leadouts so I have pieces of it. It doesn't have the advantage of pinching the line between it and an outer sheath, but it works.

How long is the Dritz Loop Turner? Or is length not an issue, because you could bunch up the cord around the turner to get more "reach"?

Length isnt much of an issue with the turner since you can bunch up the cord just like you said. I think its around 8" or so, but I could be a bit off on so just keep that in mind. What makes the turner work well is its minimal thickness. I can thread it through amsteel and dynaglide without any issues. It really is a good cheap option if you dont want to use something you already have.

The Dritz Loop Turner is 9.250000000001" along the straight section from the finger loop to the hook. But since you can bunch up the line precision isn't important.
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.
