Be sure to use the threaded ring that came with the magnetic mount. They have a different thread pattern.

There are dozens if not hundreds of those sort of magnetic mounts on Amazon, too. They all do the same thing, but that's not to say they all have the same ball and socket dimensions. I know a few people, myself included, have gotten theirs to fit without modifying anything, but others have reported they had to sand the ball on the HTH. The HTH I have the magnetic mount on is still going strong after about a year - no breakage of the socket or nut and it still supports the weight of my phone without sagging.

Yes, I got mine to thread, without any sanding, but it takes an unreasonable amount of force and I have lots of experience with working with threads in general. Sanding sounds like a better idea, but it might make it too loose if the old part is used again, right?

I noticed that, too. Good point to emphasize.

True. In my case the original part was broken.

I love the accessory! Nice work sir, well done! Great for power banks and many other such things. Using double sided adhesive is effective and clean!

I came back to this thread to see if I could find dimensions to design and print exactly this... and here, you've done it already! Bravo.

EDIT: I may have gotten a bit carried away this afternoon...

I wonder whether threads or rare earth magnets would be better fasteners for the two halves. When I started this I hadn't thought about what I'd put on the other side but I'm going to print it anyway to see if it'll work. I want to put a portable charger on one side and maybe try a fan on the other... which would mean that the 3M Command Strip plate no longer makes sense on that side but that's easy enough to change.

OK, another iteration for magnets... mostly, this is just me experimenting with Fusion 360 to see what I can come up with. This one accepts 8mm x 3mm magnets to keep the two halves together and tapered splines to allow you to select a position without allowing them to rotate accidentally:

...and you can create different end pieces for different attachments. Like this one, for a little USB fan:

OK, I had some filament at the end of a roll and printed a few of these. The features I added were a little too small to really work well. They work, but could be better. Here's another iteration I'll try next time:

Hello everyone, I recently joined the hammocking world and picked up a HTH. I love the product and have been experimenting with it on my Blackbird XLC. Does anyone know of a battery powered fan that has a 17mm ball to directly adapt to the HTH? Otherwise, I'll find one that will fit into the jaws. I'd prefer one that uses 18350 or 18650 rechargeable batteries that I already am setup for, rather than USB charging.
