Third night in a PP---24 degrees!

I just got back from my third night in a PP-----I tried somthing different this time, I used my claytor no net, and put a blue foam pad inbetween the hammock layers. Ive had condensation with this set up before, so I cut several 1/2 inch holes in the pad, for ventalition. With the blue pad, my peapod, and a light weight synthetic quilt i was quite warm all night! The holes in the pad seemed to work---no condensation at all. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized my feet were chilled----it took me a while to realize that I had slipped out of the foot pocket of my top quilt. ----in those type of temperatures you really do need the top quilt! I wasnt expecting the temp to drop quite that cold, so I was a little sloppy in hanging the peapod up---but it still kept me warm! My next project is the mod the suspension ----id like to replace the drawstrings at the end of the peapod with elastic shock cord----and make it a bit longer to compensate for the extra length of the claytor. Overall, my peapod experiances have been very very good!

run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

When I hang the Pea Pod the right way I can get down to around 15 degrees.. When I hang it more quickly or sloppy I can only get it down to around 30 degrees..That is a pretty big temperature difference.. The Pea Pod has worked the best for me in the Spring or Fall.

I just had a thought, and an interesting experiment to conduct: It seemed to me that the peapod was warmer using a space blanket underneath than it was with a foam pad underneath. Is that possible? Ill have to try it again and check it out. Its going to snow in ATL tomorrow, perfect peapod testing weather---Ill keep you posted!

I always use some sort of reflective insulation inside my peapod.

I would love to have a peapod - wish I weren't claustrophobic. I love the idea of being enveloped in warmth that way.

Lori, using a claytor no net, its pretty roomy--------Im tall (6'5") and kind of thin----works really good for me. Then again, my old cats meow mummy bag never bothered me either................................
