Hey guys,
I'm new to the area (not to hammocks) and was looking to start hanging with my fellow Tennesseans and other southern folks.
Any winter or spring hangs I should plan on attending?

Directionally challenged...comicly so.
Not all who wonder are lost...But I'm probably just lost.
In February there will be the Meriwether Lewis Hang. It’s in middle/west Tennessee

When I read this title I thought this isn't legal any longer but then again in Tn anything goes Welcome and along with the Meriwether Lewis Hang check out the Nashville backpacker meetup group as well. https://www.meetup.com/NashvilleBackpacker/
I'll second the Merriwether group hang, they're good folks.
Natchez Trace is good spot to wander. Coyotes are abundant. Good campground there to take a quick getaway. Worth a look. The Trace was a trail for Civil War soldiers. Good creeks for water.
Land between the Lakes is ~3 hours NW from you and hosts a few group hangs annually.

Check out the VA Gayson Highlands winter hang (just outside of Damascus, VA). No, not in TN but it is great. It is Jan. 19th-22nd. I am from West TN and making the trip.
It ain't always about hammer'n out the miles....Sometimes it's about just 'hanging out"!

Former Tennessean now in Mexico stopping in to say hi. The Meriwether Lewis hang is a good one. Follow the link above to the meetup group to Nashville Backpacker. They have lots of trips planned.

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
There is a spring and fall hang on bear island on percy priest lake. Kayak needed.

Come on up to Louisville, KY this Spring. Its mostly car camping, but if you need to stretch your legs there are some trails for day hiking.

Welcome to a fellow Murfreesboro-ian. I haven't participated in any group hangs but lots of places to explore in TN. Big South Fork, Smoky Mountains, LBL, Frozen Head. Last year my son and I were trying to do a hike a month and hit lots of areas.
