    Switched to Dyneema Straps (Myerstech)

Switched to Dyneema Straps with Soft Shackles.

I am not seeing the downside here.

    What am I missing?

Well besides the fact someone could walk up to your hammock suspension and really put a whoopin on you.

I was interested in the way he larksheaded his CL to the strap before applying the BH. Never saw that method before, will have to try it out.

Keep us up to date on the performance of your new suspension system!

I had a hard time adjusting the length of my suspension incrementally - especially once the hammock was loaded with quilts. I'm used to cinch buckles where you can move the buckle by a half inch. With the Becket Hitch I had far less control. I still use it in some situations, but I prefer suspensions that are easier and more precise to adjust.

I might have to try that!I did like the way he could slide the strap to get hammock adjusted before the final tie off.It would cut my suspension weight in half.

It seems to me you are putting the becket on the wrong side of the Larks head. The webbing should cinch down on itself against the CL on the hammock side. I do like the larks head idea of holding it in place until it's up and ready to fine tune.

I pinch the webbing on the CL with one hand and pull the becket up and underneath the cl and through the loop over the cl with the other. I need to video this...

I use his straps and love them. Granted I don't use them this way, I use DG UCRs but they are excellent straps no matter how you use them.

I think the way you show it it's just a slippery half hitch? One the hammock side it really pinches the webbing against the cl.

I bought his straps after using Dutch's Kevlar for a long time and I have to say.. I like the Kevlar much more. I don't like the way the dyneema straps bunches and pinch's where it is stressed. Makes it a real challenge to get the strap laying flat on the next set of trees. It's essentially like rope instead of a flat strap. Kevlar stays flat no matter what I do with it. I already ordered my third set of kevlar straps.. six foot, eight foot and now a set of fifteen foot to replace the dyneema.
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....
