Stealthiest Place You've Hung?

There is a local trail nearby. It's 18 miles long with 3 beautiful shelters. The trail has only been open for a few years and has never allowed dispersed camping. I hang there several times a year.

I spent most of last summer sleeping in a hammock in the middle of a university campus. Close enough to hear students chatting outside lecture halls, but completely invisible from more than ~5m away in any direction, despite having a bright orange hammock with a purple tarp.

Took the Northville-Placid Trail east from West Lake to the Mud Creek in the West Canada Lakes Wilderness (Adirondacks, NY). At the bridge over the creek, I turned north and bushwacked along the creek about 300 yards. Found a spot with good trees back from the creek to hang and camp for the night.

Golden Gate Park. San Francisco.

After walking the 49 Mile Drive with 12 other people. It took 19 hours, and when we finished at 10 pm, it was the best option to rest till dawn and drive 3 hr. home. The group I was with did this walk several years in a row, this was my first. Only sleeping bags on ground, respectful of authority if encountered, but weren't. If you haven't experienced that level of endurance, it would natural to question that it is possible. I would do it again.

for a few years I had a spot I would hang in during hunting season.
It was in a stand of trees and underbrush between the AmTrak rails and a business development. My tarp was hung such that the broad side was facing the underbrush, and the doors were lined up with the tree blocking view from the building from which I would otherwise have been visible from.

I had to time my exits from the site to avoid being seen.

last year there was another building built, so now that site is no longer hidden at all, so I risked staying at my normal site. I did see some bow-hunters a couple of times, but no one after that even through gun season, So I have to assume that the message got out and everyone stayed clear. Still, I was pretty nervous that a stray shot might find it's way through the trees.

So this guy got me into a bit of social disobedience - protesting my cities laws governing homeless camping -
Anyhow my most stealthiest spot to date is right next to the Sinclair Gas station near my house. There is a stand of trees just south of the station and if you pick the right trees you lay at a very oblique angle and are nearly head-on and very difficult to see if you aren't using a tarp. I have not been ticketed yet but have 2 warnings to move on or take a ticket.

This is the season/year/whatever for me to finally stealth hang! The main bottleneck is parking. That's pretty much out for anything overnight, so everything will require my bike and a camo net to hide it before hiking in further.

I have one SOLID spot which is probably a 10min ride from home. That'll be the first hang. A few others look promising, but more exposed. And with more effort, a few more spots I can get to with my packraft on the rivers and creeks. One is sort of an island/sandbar. I'll save that for summer when the foliage is thick. Now that the city and county have went big on building trails, getting around is much easier and safer.

Two guidelines before you start:

1. Stealth camping in this context is a place you are likely not allowed to camp, but there are no signs posted (but doesn't make it right). Probably something like a small wooded area behind your Walmart, high tension lines easement, river bank that is "municipally owned" but always used as a hangout by the local kids, etc. So we're not quite talking billy bob-shotgun-patrolled private land; you should never do that.

2. Must be overnight...a nap in the park doesn't count.

And of course, no judgement if you don't want to post your "secret".
