Ridgerunner owners- How do you pack your Ridgerunner?

I just unboxed my wife's new Ridgerunner. As I was pulling out the poles they exploded all over the place lol, I had forgotten how they nest, which is really cool.

So how do you pack yours? Make a stuffsack for the poles, or just sort of slide them in on the sides and give the pack some rigidity and help open it up some?

Also, it came with the straps and buckles, and I thought I'd try those to see how I like them and decide between those and whoopies. Do you leave your straps attached like it came from WB, or detach and pack those separately as well?

I'm sure this has all probably been discussed already, but if y'all wouldn't mind sharing your tips and tricks I'd appreciate it!

I second this, but I'm handy so I made my own...

As far as packing the hammock, I use a dd hammocks hammock sleeve and leave the straps outside the sleeve, you know cause they'll get sap on them

The straps stay attached as it would be a pain to disconnect them and I store the straps in these arrow head sap sacks and the poles go in the side pocket of my pack.

I've only take the Ridgerunner out on the trail a couple times so far and I carried the poles sticking up from the side pocket of the pack with a heavy rubber band around them. I probably will make a sleeve with a drawstring for them so I don't leave any strays behind if they slip out while in storage.

I leave my Spindrift attached to the hammock and if I struggle with it, I can almost fit both in the stuff sack that came with the hammock. I replaced the cinch buckles that came with the Ridgerunner with Dutch Cinch Bugs and remove the straps when I take the hammock down and put them in a small stuff sack.

BTW: The cinch bugs made removing the Spindrift super-easy since I don't have to dissemble the entire suspension.

I use a stuff sack. Also took the step of attaching the small/middle piece to one of the larger ones like a nunchuck.

Any chance either of you have some closer-up pictures than what is shown on Arrowhead's site, of all the different features of the bag (or a link to a DIY build)? I might attempt a DIY on this.

So you use a sap sack on both ends?

I use the double-ended stuff sack provided by WB. I bought dutch clips for the straps so I don't have to feed one end through the other, and I leave the straps attached. Where I camp there isn't sap so it's not really an issue. If they get wet, I'll leave them outside the bag. It would be too difficult, IMO, to detach and attach the suspension for every hang.

The poles I usually put in a separate pouch/pocket. I haven't needed a rubber band or dedicated bag for them yet, although that might be a good organizational tool for the future.

Yep, sap sack on each end. Roll up the straps and store them in the sacks then these go in the double ended stuff sack.

I just got mine and ordered that pole bag. Waiting for it to arrive. Taking the straps off isn't hard, but it would probavly be a pain to do each time. I ordered a continuous loop and will be using the set of Dutch's Beetle Buckles and straps. That way, I can use those with either the RR or BB, depending which hammock I take. If anyone else comes along, I still have two sets of straps and also the option of whoopies too.
