That's definitely an option, and I will try it. My system has been constantly evolving. I used to be a "no stuff sacks" or at least minimal stuff sacks kind of backpacker. Lately tho, I've been trying to more finely tune my system in terms of streamlining the setup/takedown process. I've found that for GE hammocks, a double ended stuffsack really smooths the setup process out, and will probably make a LST so that I can pack my GE hammock and UQ together. Since the RR is brand new to us, I'm trying to streamline that setup process as well and feel like having a LST for it would be the most efficient way to go, along with a different suspension (it has the stock WB buckle suspension, and I'm not a fan lol).

The stuffsacks I've been making are really lightweight so IMO a couple of ounces in stuffsacks are worth the weight penalty when it comes to streamlining the setup process.

My bottom insulation was tacked to the hammock in several places up the side, my top quilt stays in the hammock, and the whole works goes in a regular stuff sack which stuff into the bottom of my top loader bag. The shape of the bag affords enough front to back restriction to keep it tightly packed.

My poles go into a side pouch of the pack, and lash straps up the side secure them... This part is still a work in progress.

Carry the poles in your hand. Two types (maybe more?) of the Mountainsmith trekking poles work well, especially w/ Warbonnet's tips - well made just for this purpose.

Nothing but the tips to pack!

Thanks for the tip (haha)! How do I find out which poles work as spreader bars?

I’m only aware of two that work without modification. The Mountainsmith Trekker 7075

and the Komperdell Carbon camera staff..

There may be others out there that I am unaware of but I have both of these and they both work great.

Warbonnet says the poles need to have the threaded camera placement built on.
    I collect vintage camp stoves.

The threaded top is needed to use their accessory tips and/or have something to put through the suspension buckle. Some people just put the threaded part through the hole in the suspension buckle. I think doing that would ding up the threads though.

No stuff sack for me. I stuff mine in my pack and it’s the last thing that goes in my cuben pack liner. I carry my carbon fiber spreader bars in a cuben stuff sack on the side of my pack. Pretty much how I pack all of my hammocks.

I tried the komperdell camera staff and thought it was too weak to rely on as a trekking pole or staff. If I put more than just a little weight on it, it would flex so much, I felt like I could break it pretty easily. I returned it.

I think that all carbon fiber poles are going to flex more then an aluminum or fiberglass alternative. I used mine all last year, it worked fine for how I use a hiking staff. It’s also nice to get dual usage (hammock spreader). The two years before, I used the Mountain Smith, it also worked well in my bridges. Definitely heavier then the Komperdell. I typically only use a staff rather then poles.
