Creating a "Master Calendar" for Hangs in the NE [at least]

I have absolutely zer0/zip/nada experience with creating and maintaining databases, so I don't know how to do this myself.

Does anybody know if we could easily put up a master calendar of all upcoming hangs?

My thought was that if we had a master calendar as a "sticky" at the top of the section, we could easily prevent conflicts with date selection. It would also make it easier for individuals to plan a trip from elsewhere to our region that might involve several hangs.
It can be a hassle finding all the existing threads to set an open date that doesn't conflict, and for individuals to figure out if they have already planned on one hang when a second irresistible hang [all of them!] posts.

If someone could make a prototype signup form [auto-sort by date/ link field/ state/ location, etc.], I'm happy to try to do the maintenance, arrange with the mods to request a "sticky", and get it posted.

    Comments and suggestions welcome

Maybe post this in the "Feedback and Suggestions " forum?

The forum already offers a trip planning section, and a calendar.
Most folks do not use the calendar. If the OP doesn't enter the info on the calendar it doesn't show. The calender is on the HF homepage.
Most events are posted into the trip planning section, specific to their region.
So what would be new on yours?

Link to the already in place calendar. Highlighted is this month.
As said, IF the OP doesn't enter the info, it won't be on the calendar.

I'm not looking to reinvent the wheel if there is something that does it already, but since nothing was showing on it I thought that page was "abandonware"... and not having it right in the "trips" section also means most folks probably miss it.

Most forum software packages offer a calendar function. I'm a member of another forum that actually uses it. The instructions to those posting in the events sub-forums tells those posting to also post the specific details on the calendar if posting to the discussion pages. As a plus, on that forum, upcoming events are featured on the front page of the website.

Perhaps a reminder in the various regional trip planning forums to those posting hangs to post the event to the calendar is all that is really needed. The infrastructure is already in place with no need for someone to maintain it.

I would be very interested in seeing / having, an up to date calendar to review.

Here is a sample of the second year I set up a tentative schedule for our group. This year we are just striving to get out as much as possible. So far about every other weekend.

Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.

If you look at the 3rd line from the top on this page, you will find a calendar button. Plz feel free to use it to post your hangs on.

Meant to add: If you wish to make your own NE calendar and post it, send me a link to the thread and I will make it stickie at the top of the NE folder
