A good friend of mine (FishKiller) offered me a "glass of Kool-Aid" last month and took me to the 2nd Annual LocoLibre Hang in NJ. I have been a fan of the outdoors my whole life, and recently "upgraded" to a massive 8 person Marmot tent to accommodate my wife, myself, and three young children. We are trying to introduce them to the finer things in life that can only be found outdoors, on the water, or in the woods. In all my years, though, the only hammock I'd even been in was a cheap backyard hammock hung for the sole purpose of digging a diamond rope pattern in your back as you napped.
Let me tell you, that was some **** good Kool-Aid!
In all my years, I have never slept so comfortably in the woods as I did that weekend. I was awed by the mix of simplicity and complexity the gear offers. I enjoyed hearing from the DIY-ers and the industry pros that were there. I never felt like my questions were intruding, and I must confess, I am now an addict. My rig arrived yesterday and sits unopened waiting for me when I get home.
I look forward to seeing you in the woods.
