They don't differentially cut top quilts 95% of the time, so you will have enough for the full fabric width.

Hoosier -- good to know. I'm only 5'9", 125lbs., so not 'bulky'... it's just the side sleeping part that has me a bit worried. But actually, I should re-measure in a hammock, since the hammock itself is not completely flat.
Intimidator -- good to know as well. I probably was picturing it in underquilt terms.
I figure I could always make the side 'walls' out of fabric remnant strips if I need those few extra inches...
Im 6'4" 350 lbs and fill up a standard size door way. My 20° DIY topquilt is only 48 inches wide. Its great in a hammock. I love it everytime I use it, until I had to go to ground one night along the ozark trail. Didn't want to hike down the big hill and we were loosing the light. Couldn't find trees the were big enough to hang from that weren't surrounded by little trees. So we found flat ground and pitched the tarp. Hour after night fall i tried to roll onto my side and was surprised with a cold draft. Had to spend the whole night on my back not moving to much or else i froze.
Long story short a little extra width comes in handy from time to time.
Thanks for the perspective, Double... I fill about half of a standard doorway, so that's a good comparison. Would like to say I'd never go to ground, but "never say never".
I made side “walls” on an UQ using extra strip of fabric .....that needed to be as wide as possible - that was due to differential cut...
It’s not difficult but it is a bit more work....I doubt it’s needed for a TQ but you have the option
