I will admit I got a bit of a scare when the banjo started up. Made me sort of clinch up. You never know about NW Montana and all. I thought you were off your nut about the whitetails as I was thinking it was more muley country. But I rewound it a couple of times, and yep, whitetail way up there.

I see you are still packing that shovel, must be prospecting during the evenings I use one of those coffee funnels (yours looks like a Melita) to make my morning coffee every day. Makes great drip coffee. I have this small tupperware bowl with a snap on top that the funnel just fits into and I keep the lighter, funnel, and P38 can opener in the bowl and I use it for cold cereal with milk as my main breakfast meal. But many times I usually go with instant coffee in the hills so that I can do a cold breakfast, hit the trail, and still keep the coffee addiction demon at bay. I didn't see a bugnet on the hammock? Did you use a head net instead or do hand to hand combat?
The smoke was thick. About a month after I went on this trip there was a fire in that area too, though I don't think it burned these trails, but it was close. I used to do instant coffee. I like the Starbucks brand but no store carries it where I live. After having Folgers or Taster's Choice instant coffee for a while, I had to do something.

I don't have a bug net of any kind. On this trip, the bugs would just come out for a little bit in the evening and in the morning. I was able to make it without having to do anything.

You're going to see my shovel for the rest of the year. I'm thinking about trying something else. I've got a few months to figure it out.

Yeah, the amount of lakes up there makes it a place I want to go back to and explore some of them.

It's great too when you can find the perfect spot at the end of the day by a creek or by a lake or pond and even better when you have the whole place to yourself.

I quit counting on people to make the hike with me years ago & started going out on my own. Hiking alone or with the dog is fun too because you're on your own schedule... go when you want, stop when you want, stay a little longer if you want, whatever!

Great video & thanks for posting!
I feel the same way. I have more and more people wanting to go with me now, but I always save a couple where I can get out there by myself.

Great video, and you had the place all to yourself, bonus. Beautiful country. Thanks

Really enjoyed this beautiful area and your videography as I usually do. I envy your video abilities. Thanks for taking us along and showing us this part of the country. Did the skeeters leave you alone at night?

I was watching one of Shug's videos and he mentioned some coffee called "medaglia d'oro espresso powder". So I've been giving that stuff a go. It isn't inexpensive, but I figure that it is a backpacking treat and I deserve that since I'm forgoing the hot cup of drip.

For a cat hole scooper I use one of those titanium scoopers. Before that it was a plastic trowel. And sometimes it is a stick, elementary aboriginal american tool . There are a number of different materials, i.e. stainless steel, plastic, aluminum, or titanium that get the job done.

I really couldn't believe that I was the only one out there. Especially when there were so many cars at the trailhead.

The mosquitos were not bad, and I never noticed them at night.

I will admit to using a stick in the past.

Another reason the banjos should be a cause for consternation!
